A Garden and Outdoor Patio Go Hand-in-hand

I love to garden, and when my family moved into a new home, I was very excited at the thought of getting to plan a brand-new garden! We moved to a completely different climate, so there was a learning curve to finding out which flowers and plants would thrive in the new location. Thankfully, the project was a success, but I realized that our family didn't get to enjoy the beauty of our garden without an outdoor living space to lounge on in the backyard. We soon found a local contractor with amazing ideas on how we could turn out yard into a beautiful, outdoor oasis. I enjoyed helping him plan and watching him build our new backyard patio, and I actually learned a lot during the process. I am eager to share what I have learned with others on my new blog!

No Reason To Be Scared Of Cleaning Windows

In the 1990s movie Corrina, Corrina, the father is trying to find someone to clean the house and watch his daughter. One of the applicants forcefully says, "No windows!" There is a cultural aversion to cleaning windows, as if the job were really difficult and impossible to do correctly. However, if you follow these tips you can get your windows clear and streak free.

Choose Your Day Wisely

The first thing you need to choose is the day that you are washing your windows, especially if you are going to be washing the exterior windows. Don't choose a day that has wind over 5 miles per hour. You do not want dust and dirt to be blowing up and getting your wet windows even dirtier.

Secondly, don't wash your windows when there is a lot of construction work going on around your home. Even if there is not a breeze to move dirt around, the big machines will get a lot more particles in the air near your home. It is better to wait it out.

Third, choose a day that is cloudy and overcast. This may seem counterintuitive because when you wash your windows on a bright sunny day you can see the imperfections and smudges better. However, the bright sunlight can also dry your windows too quickly, which also causes streaks to appear.

Clean Like the Pros

The easiest way to do this is to actually hire pros, ones like Perfection Window Cleaning, to clean you windows for you. However, you can imitate the professional way of cleaning windows. First, get the right tools. Don't use newspaper or paper towels. Instead, get a high quality squeegee.

Start by using a soft cloth to put a thin layer of soapy water over your window. Then use the squeegee from top to bottom to remove the soap. One tip is to go top to bottom on the outside windows and side to side (from the top) on the inside windows. That way you can see whether the interior or exterior windows have streaks on them.

Finally, don't use dirty water! This may seem obvious, but you need to remember to change your water several times during the cleaning process. Once the water starts to look cloudy you need to dump it, otherwise you will just be spreading more dirt onto your windows instead of cleaning them. Cleaning windows does not have to be scary or overwhelming when you have the knowledge of tips and tricks that pros use.
