A Garden and Outdoor Patio Go Hand-in-hand

I love to garden, and when my family moved into a new home, I was very excited at the thought of getting to plan a brand-new garden! We moved to a completely different climate, so there was a learning curve to finding out which flowers and plants would thrive in the new location. Thankfully, the project was a success, but I realized that our family didn't get to enjoy the beauty of our garden without an outdoor living space to lounge on in the backyard. We soon found a local contractor with amazing ideas on how we could turn out yard into a beautiful, outdoor oasis. I enjoyed helping him plan and watching him build our new backyard patio, and I actually learned a lot during the process. I am eager to share what I have learned with others on my new blog!

Basic Steps For Decorating Your Windows

The type of windows you have installed in your home play an essential role in the home's decor. If you have beautifully furnished windows they will add an overall aesthetic appeal to the interior and exterior design of your home. There are quite a few steps you can take to beautify your home by upgrading and adding new windows to your home:

Entry Door Windows

The entry door to your home is the first point of contact that visitors see. In an effort to make a great first impression consider adding some decorative windows around the door. Consider placing small triangular shaped windows alongside the door.

The triangular windows will not only improve the design quality of your home, but also enable extra natural light to flow into your home. The windows can also feature mosaic patterns or rustic designs enclosed in a wooden frame.

Over-sized Windows

If you have over-sized windows in your home, don't worry about trying to find drapes or other window coverings for them. Leave the windows bare and add decor elements so you can enhance the aesthetic quality of your home. Consider painting the window frames with patterns or designs such as silhouettes of small birds, butterflies of flowers.

If you want to keep the windows traditional then try painting the frame a darker color than the interior of your home. This will add a visually stimulating element by providing a contrast of colors to your walls.

Unique Window Shapes

Stand out from the rest of the homes in your neighborhood by making your windows unique. Add windows to your home in a variety of shapes to create a stylish upbeat decor. Small windows such as the ones for your entry doors can also work in areas such as the bathroom or kitchen area.

If your furniture is modern and shaped with curves and rounded wooden frames, consider adding small round windows to the room. The rounded windows will add a special element to the furniture and other interior elements.

Window Treatments

Window coverings such as valances, drapes and roman blinds can add color to your home. However, don't go for the traditional window coverings found in most homes. Consider having your window treatments custom designed. Roman blinds may be customized to feature designs and patterns that can coincide with your furniture and wall coverings.

For instance, kitchen blinds can be made with apples decorated on them to go with a country theme. Drapes and valances can also be made with similar designs.

If you are having trouble deciding what type of window upgrades will work for your home, consider consulting with a contractor for further guidance. To learn more, contact a company like R & K Windows.
