A Garden and Outdoor Patio Go Hand-in-hand

I love to garden, and when my family moved into a new home, I was very excited at the thought of getting to plan a brand-new garden! We moved to a completely different climate, so there was a learning curve to finding out which flowers and plants would thrive in the new location. Thankfully, the project was a success, but I realized that our family didn't get to enjoy the beauty of our garden without an outdoor living space to lounge on in the backyard. We soon found a local contractor with amazing ideas on how we could turn out yard into a beautiful, outdoor oasis. I enjoyed helping him plan and watching him build our new backyard patio, and I actually learned a lot during the process. I am eager to share what I have learned with others on my new blog!

3 Signs Your Roof Should Be Coated

Adding a roof coating to your home is a great way to prolong the life of the roof, and it can provide other benefits, too. You can purchase the materials that you need to add your own roof coating at a home improvement store, but hiring a roofing professional to handle the job can be a better solution. These are a few signs that you should consider hiring a roofing professional to come in and add a roof coating to the top of your home.

1. You Have Minor Leaks

If your roof has major leaks, you might need to have more expensive work done to your home. However, for very minor leaks, a roofing pro can typically repair the leaks and then coat the roof to help prevent them from reoccurring. This can also help make your roof more resilient and help prevent other leaks from happening, too.

2. You're Having Trouble Heating and Cooling Your Home

If you have been having trouble heating and cooling your home, you might have thought about things like your heating and air conditioning system potentially being to blame. However, there is also a chance that another part of your home is responsible for your high electric and/or gas bills -- your roof. Luckily, adding a roof coating can help keep your home better protected against the elements, so you can make heating and cooling your home easier, more effective and more affordable. It's a great way to make your home more eco-friendly without actually paying the full cost of buying a new roof.

3. Your Roof Is Showing Signs of Aging

Over time, it is of course natural for your roof to start showing the signs of aging. Replacing your roof when it's still in good physical condition just to make it look nicer can seem like a waste of money, and this is where a roof coating can come into play. Depending on how your roof looks, a roof coating can help breathe new life into this part of your home and can help keep it looking good aesthetically for as long as possible without a replacement.

As you can see, coating your roof can be a smart decision in a lot of different situations. If any of these three things apply to your residential roof, it might be time to talk to a roofing pro about having your roof inspected, repaired if necessary and then coated with a roof coating that is appropriate for your roofing material.
