A Garden and Outdoor Patio Go Hand-in-hand

I love to garden, and when my family moved into a new home, I was very excited at the thought of getting to plan a brand-new garden! We moved to a completely different climate, so there was a learning curve to finding out which flowers and plants would thrive in the new location. Thankfully, the project was a success, but I realized that our family didn't get to enjoy the beauty of our garden without an outdoor living space to lounge on in the backyard. We soon found a local contractor with amazing ideas on how we could turn out yard into a beautiful, outdoor oasis. I enjoyed helping him plan and watching him build our new backyard patio, and I actually learned a lot during the process. I am eager to share what I have learned with others on my new blog!

3 Big Benefits Of Using Cement Board Siding On Your Home

Cement board siding is a specific type of siding that has been around for a while and seems to go through periods of popularity. Regardless of how popular cement board siding is, it is a sturdy fire and storm-resistant siding material that you should consider using in your home.

#1 Sturdy Material

One of the biggest benefits of using cement board for your home is that it is a really sturdy material.

It is designed to withstand rot, so you don't have to worry about part of your siding wasting away. Cement board siding is also designed to be resistant to insects, so you should not have to deal with any termites or ants munching their way through your cement board siding and into your home.

If you live next to the ocean, cement board siding is a great siding choice. It will not develop rust or wear down due to exposure to the excessive salt in the water.

Cement board siding usually comes with really long warranty period and is designed to last for decades.

#2 Fire-Resistant

If you live in an area that frequently experiences wildfires, you want to make sure that all the materials on the outside of your home have fire-resistant properties. You also want to make sure that you engage in measures around your home to protect yourself against fires. That way, if embers from a fire were to protect your home, the chance of it catching on fire would be slim.

Having fire-resistant siding is a smart move even if you don't live somewhere that gets a lot of wildfires. Protecting your home from fire is smart. If a fire were to break out in the home next door, for example, your home would stand a much higher chance of not being damaged by fire if it had cement board siding.

#3 Storm-Resistant

Finally, cement board siding is great to have on your home when you live somewhere that gets extreme storms. For example, if your area gets lots strong wind storms, your siding will be able to withstand the wind. Or if you live somewhere that gets hurricanes or tornadoes, this would be a really strong material to use on your home. Cement board siding is not easily damaged by even the strongest of storms.

If you want siding on your home that is going to last for decades, be resistant to rot and insects, withstand sea-salt, protect your home against fires and other weather events, you need to consider investing in cement board siding for your home.
